Patient Bill of Rights

You possess the right to receive clear, accurate information about your health plan, the health care professionals involved, and the facilities. If language barriers, physical or mental disabilities, or misunderstandings arise, support should be provided so that you can make informed health decisions.

You’re entitled to select health care providers capable of offering timely, quality health care.

Your rights include being informed of your treatment options and participating in the decision-making process about your care. If you’re unable to make these decisions, designated parents, guardians, family members, or others may represent you.

You possess the right to converse privately with health care providers and expect the protection of your health information unless legally allowed otherwise. You’ll be given a separate “Notice of Privacy Practices” explaining your privacy rights and how your protected information may be used or disclosed. You have the right to access, copy, and request corrections to your medical records if they are inaccurate, irrelevant, or incomplete.

You’re entitled to be actively involved in decisions concerning your care and pain management, including the refusal of care within legal limits. Your care provider will outline the medical implications of refusing recommended treatments. However, demanding inappropriate or medically unnecessary treatments or services is not within your rights.

You have the right to receive explanations about your illness, treatment, pain, alternatives, and potential outcomes in an understandable manner.

You’re entitled to expect emergency procedures to be carried out promptly and without unnecessary delay.

If a transfer to another facility or hospital is required, you have the right to a detailed explanation. Your right also extends to having a family member or representative promptly informed of such a transfer.

You have the right to be informed of the names of all your doctors, nurses, and health care team members involved in your care.

You’re entitled to receive care in a safe environment, devoid of any forms of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, or harassment.

Regardless of your age, gender, race, national origin, religion, economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disabilities, you have the right to receive respectful, compassionate, and considerate care in a secure setting.

You possess the right to provide or withhold consent for recordings, photographs, films, or other images intended for uses other than identification, diagnosis, or treatment. You can withdraw consent up until a reasonable timeframe before the material is used.

You have the right to know the ownership and any financial interest in the facility. The following individuals have ownership and/or financial interest: Prof Dr. Tanil Esemenli and Prof. Dr. Semih Ayanoglu.

You’re entitled to have your concerns and complaints addressed. If at any point you, your guardian, advocate, support person, or representative feel your rights as a patient have been violated – or you wish to express a compliment, concern, or complaint – please file a written grievance. Sharing your issues will not affect your access to care, treatment, and services.
